Hannah’s story

The Helpers met Hannah after her twin girls were born, while she was pregnant with her son. Her twin girls have medical issues, and we encouraged her to apply for Social Security for them.

The twins’ father is not involved in their lives. Hannah has a child support order against him, but even though the court ordered his paycheck garnished, she receives nothing from him. He moves from job to job, works under the table, or doesn’t work at all.

Mary Anne has delivered clothes, diapers, wipes, and supplemental nutrition for her toddlers as well as formula for her son and food for her to her home.  We also paid back rent. In addition, we have referred Hannah to other organizations that can help her with her bills. We have helped her to navigate providing these organizations with the paperwork they need from her.

Her son, Legend, was born on May 9, 2023. He had an umbilical hernia which needed medical attention, but he is now doing well. She is pregnant again and due in December. The father of Legend and the new baby has a disability which prevents him from working, but he receives SSI.

Hannah was fortunate enough to get a job at the Day Care center where she brings her own children.  She has also recently been approved for Section-8 housing and hopes to be moving before this baby is born.

Our mission statement indicates that we enter into the lives of pregnant women and their families in order to ease their life burdens with support services to give them hope. We are happy to work with other members of the family if that makes it easier for a woman to choose life.

Hannah’s grandmother is very supportive of the family and is involved in their daily lives. She does all she can to help Hannah and the children, but it is not possible for her to do everything on her own. We ask that you pray for all involved in this difficult situation.
