Finish 40 Days for Life Out Strong!

We are half way through the 40 Days for Life campaign and it has been an amazing experience so far. Dozens of people have come and partnered with us to pray peacefully to end abortion at the Cherry Hill Women’s Center in Cherry Hill. It has been a powerful time. Let me tell you Helpers, our presence makes a difference and we know not only because of the women that we have connected with, but because for the first time, in a long time, the employees at the clinic countered our presence, with signs of their own.

Let us tell you about some of the experiences we have had during this campaign. One morning while we were standing outside praying we saw a very pregnant mother walk into the clinic for an abortion. As she walked inside we began to pray fervently for her. After a few minutes she came out and walked over to us to take a Rosary and we began talking with her. She told us that she could not begin her appointment inside because of some insurance problems. We told her that we were outside praying that she would not be able to get an abortion…she laughed in disbelief. She told us her name is Nakeya and we told her of the unconditional support we are ready to provide to her and her unborn child. She took our pamphlet and our contact information with a smile and walked away with the her baby’s beating heart still inside her.

Another day, Helpers Gloria and Bruce came for their usual weekly hour of prayer. While they were praying a young man standing with a little boy in the parking lot of the clinic caught their eye. Gloria was persistent with her invitation to come and speak to them, so he eventually came. They began to talk and the man, Reggie, told Gloria and Bruce he was at the clinic with his girlfriend ,Latraya. He went on to tell them they were living with his mother but she was forced to move out of her home the week prior. The couple was now living in a motel with their 8-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son. Latraya was 20 weeks pregnant now and their financial struggles led them to this hopeless place.

(Let me tell you this friends…we see this ALL the time. People do not come to this clinic with smiles on their faces and hope in their hearts. They come to this clinic with heavy hearts, feelings of hopelessness and desperation.)

Reggie continued to tell us that he is working, but the new housing cost is daunting. He said he has a few leads on apartments for the family so we encouraged him, told him we will help in any way we can and they left the clinic that day. So perhaps for the price of a security deposit their baby boy will be born this Valentine’s Day! Please continue to pray for this family!

Since the beginning of 40 Days for Life at least two other couples have turned around as well, choosing life for their child! One woman came out of the clinic so fast that her boyfriend ran after her with a perplexed look on his face. Our prayer continued for them as they sat in their car for about 20 minutes. Then they pulled out of the driveway, the woman smiled and waved and the man stopped the car to give two-thumbs up before driving off!

There is no doubt that our presence makes a difference. We are inviting you all to be a part of this! We are aiming to have people praying there from 7am until 7pm through November 6th. Will you come out for an hour and be a part of something big? We would love to have you experience what God is doing outside and inside the clinic walls.
