Alyssa & Brandon’s Story

For the last year a young couple, Alyssa and Brandon, have been bouncing around from place to place without a stable homelife. The 18 and 19 year olds were faced with another challenge when they found out they were expecting a baby in August.
At the time they were living in an abandoned house. They realized this was no place to raise a baby so they reached out to the Volunteers of America Shelter. The non-profit, located throughout South Jersey, referred them to us.
Since meeting with The Helpers, this lovely couple has been housed, fed, transported to social services, doctors appointments and job interviews.  Helper Mary Anne found a lead for a job and Brandon was
hired!
The Helpers also found a room for them to rent with a generous family who live within a few miles of his job.  We were able to secure a bicycle for Brandon to ride back and forth to work.
Alyssa and Brandon have become family and have both volunteered their time to help us . Alyssa has ridden along with Mary Anne and acted as her secretary labeling receipts and answering phone calls.  Brandon has helped to move furniture and in one furniture moving trip the couple met Helper Erin, a woman who stores furniture for Helpers.
Through this meeting, the Holy Spirit moved Erin to throw a baby shower for Alyssa. It was an intimate event where the couple was showered with gifts for their baby boy, August Lee.
This sweet boy was born on August 13, 2018 at 3:18am.  August weighed 8lbs, 7oz and was 21 inches.
This young family still has challenges to face.  They must find permanent housing and a job for Alyssa that makes the cost of daycare worthwhile. However, they are very happy to have each other and to be
part of our Helpers family. We are so excited to see what the Lord has planned for their lives and we will be there along side of them every step of the way.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
