A Look At Our Moms
This week we want to take the time to give you an update on what has been going on with The Helpers of God’s Precious Infants, NJ. It has been a very busy couple of weeks. What is so encouraging is that the word is getting out about what we are doing. We are getting more and more referrals and women are reaching out to us through our website, Facebook and also being referred by other women we have helped. This means more babies are being saved, more women are experiencing God’s love through us and we are helping to build a culture of life and family in this area. We are achieving our goal! So let us tell you about some of the mothers we are working with and give you some updates.
Colby, a mother we met about a year ago is the mother of 9-month old Chance. You can read about her story HERE. Colby just started her new job last week! She will work at an Amazon Warehouse for $13.50 per hour. Her mother (Chance’s grandmother) will stay at her home overnight with the kids whenever Colby works. She is looking forward to paying off some bills and possibly moving to a better apartment. One of our prayer volunteers, Sister Elizabeth, is giving her moral support since they are both in the Trenton area. Colby is excited to start working again! The baby and her daughter, Chazaiya, are both doing well. Chazaiya is 10 years old and happily helps her mother with Chance.
Another mom we became involved with, Lanasha, gave birth to her daughter Hamon’ii on August 11th. We have stayed involved in this young mom’s life and continue to support her and her family. She is doing well and last week she had a job interview. She is ready to get back to work to support her family. One of our prayer volunteers has offered to provide childcare for her when she does secure employment. She is in need of some work clothes and a winter coat. (She has her eye on a $70 coat at K Mart). If anyone would like to help it would be a wonderful Thanksgiving gift for her. She deserves it because, not only did she choose life for her daughter, but she also turned her sister around and her sister will give birth any day now! Lanasha became a helper as soon as she was helped! Her sister, Ontaiya, is on bed rest in this last stage of pregnancy.
One of our newer turnarounds, Qiana, has moved into the studio apartment we helped to find. Qiana and King are expecting their daughter in March. They were homeless and contemplating abortion when we met them on the last day of October and now they have a lease on an apartment and King is starting a job. Mary Anne, one of our founding members, took him to Social Services to get his papers in order and brought him to a couple of interviews. We are working on getting him some work clothes and would appreciate any donations toward that. Qiana’s pregnancy is high risk. She lost their first son in 2014 due to preeclampsia. We will do all in our power to try to keep her stress free and healthy during this pregnancy.
Brittany, a young mom who emailed us, has been in contact with Mary Anne. Brittany was being asked to move from where she is living. Her mother would only take her and her 9-month old back home if she agreed to have an abortion. Brittany contacted us, desperate for help. She did not want to end her baby’s life, but was running out of options. After talking with her we found out that the father of the baby has a step-mother, who offered her finished basement to Brittany. However, she didn’t have a bed. We provided a bed and a pack and play for them!
Donations from a generous helper given today, made that possible!
Kristen met our Helper Teri at Cooper Hospital when Teri was there with another girl we were helping back in March. Kristen asked Teri to help her with an adoption for a baby she just had but could not care for. The Helpers worked with her and her entire family who are homeless and drug addicted. We are thrilled to report that Kristen is finally going to get some help! She will be heading to rehab at “Straight and Narrow” this week. Last week Kristen asked if we could do one last thing and get her a few pair of size 3/5 pants to take with her. Of course, we did. Please pray for Kristen’s recovery and mental wellness as she takes this bold step to recovery.
We also have a wonderful adoption story to tell you about. We will save that for our next newsletter on Dec 1!
This is just a glimpse of some of the women we are working with each day. We care deeply for each one of them and your donations and prayers give us the supplies and strength to keep doing what we are doing.
We want to thank you friends, donors and volunteers for your continued support – We will need you more than ever as the number of women we are reaching continues to increase. We would ask you to consider donating to help us continue to support these moms and their precious babies. Any amount helps. As you can see we are called on to pay for a variety of things from motel rooms, to security deposits, to food, to fees for birth certificates and ID, to size 3/5 pants, to laundromat fees and a host of other incidentals!
If donating money is not an option…we are always looking for volunteers to come out to the clinic and pray or get involved in the women’s lives. We are also in need of a few donated items to help our moms get settled. Items we are in need of right now:
2 full size beds and 2 twins
Small dresser
Kitchen Supplies
Winter Clothing for women. Size M, L & XL, including coats
Winter infant clothing. Size 0-24 months
Snow suit, 18/24 months
Women’s toiletries
