Nicole’s Story
One July morning, while Helper Teri was praying outside the Cherry Hill Women’s Center she saw a couple go in and out of the clinic several times. She was obviously struggling with her decision. This is something we see often outside of the clinic…most of the women we come across are not there because they want to abort their child but because they feel this is the only option.
This particular woman seemed comfortable to come over and talk when Teri waved to her, but each time she tried to respond her boyfriend would pull her arm back. After several unsuccessful attempts, Teri stopped and prayed, and asked God for his help and wisdom. The couple went inside again…15 minutes passed. Minutes that felt like an eternity to our Helpers! Suddenly the woman came back out yelling at her boyfriend and refusing to go ahead with the abortion. Teri continued to plead with God as this young woman fought for the life of her baby. The couple got in their car and drove off.
The next day Teri was back at the clinic praying. After standing outside for a few minutes a car stopped at the curb behind her. The passenger of the car got out, came over to Teri and asked,
“do you remember me?”
It was the woman from yesterday! Teri recognized her immediately and said yes!
She introduced herself as Nicole and told Teri she wanted to speak to her yesterday, but couldn’t. Nicole was from Deptford and lives with her parents and 8-year-old daughter. She said she was in need of help and that she’d had a previous abortion and had promised God she would never have another. Nicole explained that she wanted God back in her life. She told Teri she needed help and advice and Teri gratefully agreed to provide whatever she needed. From that day on the Helpers took an interest in the life of Nicole, her daughter and her unborn son. We provided moral support and made her feel part of The Helpers family. Whenever Nicole wanted to meet up and talk…The Helpers were there. Nicole has since joined a church and become very involved. This has given her a sense of peace and purpose in her life.
On January 31st The Helpers joined Nicole to celebrate the life of the child she saved. Family and friends gathered and shared food and showered Nicole with sweet gifts for her baby boy….and just two weeks later, on February 15th Noah Nasir was born, weighing 7 pounds, 14 ounces. We are happy to say that we will remain in Nicole’s life and help her in any way we can. We will continue to reinforce what she already knows…God has a plan for her and her children’s lives.
